Roaring laughter

There is a reason why we say ‘Laughter is the best medicine’.  When you laugh,  feel good hormones are released which improves on your health, makes you immune and reduces the stress factors. And not to forget it makes you look good and younger.

Having said that its good to look for humour in daily life and not to take life or yourself very seriously. Sometimes you feel that you are in the worst situations in life.  And wonder how will you ever get over it or can life get any worse!

But, life will pass and looking back, they look oddly funny now.

Last month,  I met my childhood friends (all girls group) after many years, some almost after 16 years.  These friends have been with me since I was 5 years old.  We grew up together.  We went to college together and finally all of us got married and got dispersed.  In the age of no Facebook, twitter, mobile phones,  it does become difficult to keep in touch.  So, we all dispersed and recently,  it was another social app, Whatsapp that brought us back together.  We created a group on Whatsapp and started connecting with each other again regularly.

And when we met,  it was like a house on fire.  We shrieked, cried, laughed all at once. We couldn’t remember when we had felt so happy and laughed so freely in recent times.  Then we reminisced through life.  Found out that all of us are doing well and are settled now.  We all have multiple children and are still sane.  Our husbands all have their own quirks, but they still love us.  We also talked about how we adjusted to our married life with our in-laws.  I am not writing the whole stories here as it would fill up several pages.

Then we went further back to our first crushes and the love of our lives during our teenage.  Funnily, we have kept tabs on them too. So much for not staying in touch with our dearest friends.  We realised, some of them are hugely successful, but some have been total losers and thanked our Gods that we didn’t follow our hearts then.  One of my friends had even fallen in love with someone from another religion and had listened to her parent’s advice to steer clear of the person.  Those days were really crushing days when we used to pour our hearts out to our friends and discussing endless hours.  They have been the shoulders we cried on, sharing our doubts, our dreams.

But, here we are doing so well as yummy mummies and some of us with careers, with no major setbacks and thanking our parents and God for bringing us here today. So, laugh and be happy.  Life will take care of itself.
